My birthday was last week, and most of us in my family were sick, so some celebrating was put on hold. But I did have a few things to kick off the celebrating: cookies, flowers and yarn! I made yummy cookies last Friday. A friend reminded me of how she doctors up chocolate chip cookies, so I added some cinnamon, nutmeg and walnuts. Of course, I made some plain without chips or nuts and some with only chips and no nuts for my boys. But when their dough ran out they were happy to eat the fancy cookies, so they must have been pretty good!
It would be hard for me to pick a favorite flower at this point in life, but when I was young my favorite flower was the sunflower. Sunny and bold with a solid, earthy air about them; sunflowers are great! And what did I see on my last shopping trip but sunflowers! And maybe I was really in need of some sunny yellow, because I got these beautiful yellow roses, too.
They smell wonderful
Looking great even after a mid-week trim
Getting yarn in the mail is so much fun! Last week I got these lovelies. Happy birthday to me! Yesterday I had time to get some favorites out my stash to see how the colors look together. Here are a few combos I love...
With so many amazing color combinations, the project possibilities are practically endless! For my next project I'm thinking I'll make either an everyday comfy vest cardi with the Driftwood and Peacock OR an amazing shawl or sweater with a color fade. Decisions, decisions....
