Sometimes the best therapy is beauty. And sometimes it helps to have that beauty available to view at any moment.
After our third boy was born, my husband started doing the grocery shopping, and he'd take our oldest boy with him. I love that man! They both enjoyed getting some time just the two of them and, out of the blue they started bringing me cut flowers home from the grocery store. I hadn't ever thought too much about cut flowers; I liked them well enough whenever the occasion arose. But at this point in my life with a 6 year old, 2 year old and infant and the stresses that go along with having wonderful little guys, the simple beauty of those flowers sitting on my kitchen counter through the week was so encouraging. Our son would pick them out, and it was always a surprise to see what he'd put together from what was available that day.
Flowers for the kitchen
Even though I'm back to doing the grocery shopping, flowers are still on the list, and I love it! I have found that one or two bouquets can go a long way and some stragglers can even last two weeks. So now other rooms are being graced by beauty; color therapy at every turn!

Boys' Bathroom
And this past week, my 4 year old requested flowers in the boys' bathroom. So cute! I had to improvise a non-breakable "vase". I wanted to jump on his creative impulse, but maybe I'll come up with a more permanent option later.
